The winter transfer window has now closed. Here’s a round up all the rumours and done deals as they happened on deadline day.
Confirmed – Luton land Dutch midfielder on loan
Luton’s final signing of the January window was Davy van den Berg from Netherlands top flight side Utrecht. The 25-year-old has joined on loan for the remainder of the season with with a conditional obligation to buy.

The signing is the last of six brought to Kenilworth Road during the winter window along with Sverre Sandal, Devante Cole, signed on permanent deals, and loans for Emilio Lawrence and Kasey Palmer.
Leaving Luton on loan deals were Lasse Nordås, Milli Alli, Jacob Brown, Reuell Walters, Jerry Yates, Christ Makosso, Joe Gbodé, Ethon Archer and Zack Nelson. Lamine Fanne joined Venezia in a permanent deal, while Marvelous Nakamba’s contract was terminated so he could joined Sheffield Wednesday.
Confirmed – Luton sign Norwegian midfielder

Confirmed – Nakamba leaves Luton

It was reported early in the day, but the Hatters have now confirmed that right back Reuell Walters has joined the Seasiders for the remainder of the season.

Sky Sports have reported that Stockport County have rejected Luton’s £750,000 offer to buy Jack Diamond because the other Hatters want £1.5m for their 26-year-old winger.

Scottish regional newspaper The Press and Journal have revealed “a deal between League One play-off chasers Luton and Aberdeen for Leighton Clarkson looks unlikely due to the sides’ respective valuations of the 24-year-old, who still has 18 months left on his Aberdeen contract.
“The P&J understands one other English club have also expressed an interest in signing playmaker Clarkson.”
While the Daily Record reports that the Hatters are also interested in Hibernian midfielder Dylan Levitt
Report – Hatters set to raid Norway again?
Norwegian media outlet TV 2 are reporting that KFUM Oslo are in talks with Luton over the sale of 22-year-old midfielder Sverre Sandal for 15 million Kronor (around £1.1m).
They have said that a medical has been completed and that the: “22-year-old has been a key player for KFUM in the Eliteserien for the last two years, and especially last year he occasionally excelled for the Oslo team.”
Report – Portsmouth pip Barnsley to Brown?
After reporting that Barnsley were keen on talking Luton forward Jacob Brown back to Oakwell, Football League Word have now said that Portsmouth have leapfrogged the Yorkshire side and “are now in advanced talks to sign the player on a permanent deal”.
Report – Nakamba faces Sheffield Wednesday wait

A reported move to Sheffield Wednesday for Luton midfielder Marvelous Nakamba hinges on the Owls selling players before he can come in, according to The Star.
The Steel City newspaper have reported that there are talks of Town terminating the Zimbabwe captain’s contract and that the midfielder is keen on a move to Hillsborough.
Report – Luton to lose out in Barnsley captain bid?
It was reported earlier this morning that Luton were “in talks” with Barnsley over a move for their captain Luca Connell, but transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has now revealed that a deal is now “unlikely”.
Report – Dutch midfielder set for Luton loan
The Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath has written on X that Luton have “bid for Utrecht’s Davy van den Berg”.
While reports from the Netherlands based SoccerNews has said the 25-year-old midfielder is set to leave the Dutch top flight for a loan in England with Town.
Van den Berg started his career with Utrecht but signed for PEC Zwolle in 2022, rejoining Utrecht in May last year on a three-year deal.
Report – Exit open for Brown to return to former club?

Football League World are reporting that “Barnsley have entered talks with League One rivals Luton in an effort to complete a move for Brown ahead of this evening’s deadline, with Hourihane and co hoping to intensify discussions as they chase the deal.”
That’s after earlier reports of Luton keen to sign the Tykes captain Luca Connell.
Brown started his career at Oakwell before moving to Stoke City in 2020. He joined Luton in 2023 for the start of their Premier League campaign and played 22 times for Town that term. But he suffered a serious injury in February 2024 and didn’t play again until September 2024, though he made 30 appearances in the Championship.
He again suffered a serious injury in March last year and didn’t return to action until November. He’s made eight appearances this term, but hasn’t featured since the New Year’s Day defeat at Exeter.
Confirmed – Luton Academy ace extends Hemel loan
Luton’s under-21 midfielder Jack Lorentzen-Jones has seen his loan at National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town extended until the end of the season.
Report – Town in touch with Barnsley for their captain
With the news that Lamine Fanne has left Luton, The Telegraph are reporting that Luton are in contact with old transfer favourites Barnsley for their skipper Luca Connell.
The midfielder scored for the Tykes as the Hatters were thumped 5-0 last year, which is one of his seven goals in 152 appearances for the Yorkshire side.
Luton, in the 2020 era, have in the past loved a raid on Oakwell in the past having signed the likes of Cauley Woodrow, Carlton Morris, Mads Andersen, Jack Walton, George Moncur, Matty Pearson and Elliot Lee directly from Barnsley. While new signing Devante Cole, vice captain Jordan Clark and current forward Jacob Brown are among the list of players who played for the Tykes before their arrival at Kenilworth Road, such as James Bree, Luke Berry, Rob Edwards, Martin Cranie, Ryan Tunnicliffe, Jacob Butterfield, Paddy McCourt and Nathan Doyle.
Report – Walters set for Seasiders’ loan

Reuell Walters has been linked with a loan switch to League One rivals Blackpool after the Hatters beat the Tangerines 1-0 on Saturday.
A report on Football Insider said: “Blackpool have agreed a deal to sign Luton Town defender Reuell Walters on loan.
“The 21-year-old has been heavily out of favour having made just five senior appearances all season, and has been keen to leave in search of increased playing time. Blackpool are now prepared to offer him a way out following Crystal Palace‘s decision to recall Danny Imray, who has since joined West Brom, earlier in the window.”
Report – Luton looking at Aberdeen ace?
Six months after sealing the switch of Shayden Morris from Aberdeen, The Daily Record is reporting that Luton Town are keen on signing the Dons’ England U20 midfielder Leighton Clarkson.
The Scottish newspaper said: “The English League One side has expressed an interest in the Aberdeen playmaker.
“Clarkson is now in the final 18 months of his Pittodrie deal. He didn’t play as much as he would have hoped at the end of Jimmy Thelin’s time.
“Aberdeen signed him for a significant six figure deal from Liverpool back in 2023. It remains to be seen if Luton can reach Aberdeen’s valuation.”
Confirmed – In case you missed it…. Fanne exits for Venezia
Yesterday evening it was confirmed that midfielder Lamine Fanne had left Luton to join Serie B side Venezia in a permanent deal until 2030.
We can’t think why he might have swapped Luton for the canals and gondolas of Venice, but we’re sure it has it’s charms!
