Luton unveil new green third kit ahead of wearing it in Burton clash

Luton Town have unveiled a new green third kit for the 2025/26 season, promising in an eco-friendly initiative that a tree will be planted near the future Power Court stadium for every goal scored in the strip.

Drawing artistic inspiration from the leaves of Ivy, Beech, Ash and Oak Roads around Kenilworth Road, the Reflo kit marks the first time ever that the club’s outfield players will wear green.

This term is also the first time in over 100 years that the Hatters will not play in a white shirt. That was the colour of Town’s shirts through most of the 20th century, until the home kit changed to orange under the current 2020 board of owners. A white shirt then became Luton’s changed strip, but after a blue shirt was unveiled earlier this summer as that option, today’s green shirt unveiling also broke with tradition.

The club has assured supporters that a shirt white will return as part of the 2026/27 kit rotation.

Gary Sweet, Luton’s chief executive, told the club’s website: “We are really pleased with all three kits produced for this season’s League One campaign. Reflo have designed a third shirt that is dedicated to Luton Town and our roots in Bury Park, and one that we hope supporters will enjoy wearing.

“We thank our Supporters Trust for their involvement in the kit designing process, and we are looking forward to seeing the team wear it for the first time on Saturday for our game against Burton Albion as we look to build on our positive start to the season.”

Supporters’ Trust board member Helen Gatward added: “We’re proud to support a kit that reflects the values of the club and the community it represents, and the commitment to sustainability for today and the future – not just for the football club but also for the environment.

“Featuring the connection to the streets around Kenilworth Road with Oak, Ivy, Beech and Ash leaf design features and the tree-planting initiative at Power Court show that this shirt is a symbol of progress. We see this as a really positive departure for the club for one season. A shirt that looks different and makes a difference!”

Sustainability remains a focal point and the kit is made entirely from recycled materials and engineered to be fully recyclable at the end of its life.

Rory MacFadyen, Reflo co-founder, also chimed in: “This is what progress looks like. A shirt that champions creativity, community and circularity. Every detail matters, from the hand-drawn pattern to the tree planted for every goal. We’re proud to stand alongside Luton in creating something that’s built to last and made to make a difference.”
