Luton are not looking to making any more signings, despite links to Gabriel Osho and Andrew Surman last week.
The latter, an experienced midfielder with Bournemouth and Norwich, had been training with Town and both players are free agents, which means that they could still be signed after the transfer window slammed shut on Friday.
But moves for the duo will not be pursued, with Hatters manager Nathan Jones happy about the business the club has done, having signed Joe Morrell from Bristol City, Sam Nombe from Milton Keynes and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on loan from Leicester in the final two days of the summer window.
“We’re done now,” he said, adding: “If I go to the board and ask for anything else, I think we could have a couple of heart attacks on our hands, but the board has been fantastic as well as we have to remember we are in a pandemic and we’ve got no fans.
“Our fans have been absolutely outstanding in terms of season ticket sales, in terms of backing us and we do not take that for granted in any way, shape or form, I can assure they haven’t gone out and spent money frivolously.
“We haven’t gone out and spent a load of money we haven’t got, everything has been within budget.
“We’ve had to ask people to pull on the purse strings a little bit and to dip their hand (in their pockets) and everyone has done fantastically well, but we believe that we will recruit that long-term, because we’re in the middle of a real difficult spell.
“But, in terms of the football club, we’ve managed to do the business we needed. Well, almost on budget, you’d have to ask to Gary (Sweet) about that, but we’re in a good place.”
