He may have fired 52 goals in 53 games, won the treble in his debut season and frightened the life out of the world’s best defenders, but Erling Harland doesn’t scare Luton new boy Mads Andersen.
While the Norwegian was breaking records in his debut Manchester City season, the Danish centre back was playing in League One with Barnsley.
But in 38 days the Hatters will kick off at Brighton and Hove Albion to begin their first-ever Premier League campaign.
It won’t be until December 9 that Town will host the Premier League champions and Champions League winners at Kenilworth Road, and Andersen hopes he will get to test himself against the world’s best striker.
“Of course, you want to play against Haaland,” he said, adding: “But we’re only going to play against good players so I’m looking forward to everything really. I’ll try to adapt as quickly as possible and do my best that’s all I can do.”
And while City’s hotshot strikes fear into most defenders, Andersen said: “I’m excited. I would love that, no matter the outcome but hopefully it’s a good outcome for me.
“When you’re playing against those players, and you can compete and feel what it takes to be at that level I think you will learn a lot and become a better player yourself. That’s what I want to do, I want to become the best player I can be.”
