Luton Irish rockers Missing the Ferry have released a new music video for their single, ‘The Dalston Railway Tavern’, which was part-filmed in the town centre.
Produced by Luton filmmakers Two Side Studios the film was shot in Dalston and The Three Horseshoes pub on Park Street in February 2025.
The performance part of the video also features a cast of Luton luminaries including Ben Barry and Reece Martin from Vandalism Begins at Home, George Cowan from blues rockers Dois Padres and JP Smith from Boxing Saves Lives.
The track, a live favourite from their ‘Lonely Londoners’ debut EP is, the band says, “an ode to a pre-gentrified Hackney in east London; the lost, the found, the desperate and sound drunk in a little Dalston pub known as ‘The Railway Tavern’.”
Missing The Ferry are a second-generation Irish band from Luton made up of three brothers: Paul, Kevin and Chris Anderson along with their best friends: Kevin Cunningham and Richard Herity. They write songs about identity and belonging.
With influences as diverse as Brendan Shine, The Pogues and The Stone Roses their mission is to get people dancing and thinking.
They have also penned a song about Luton which was showcased, alongside ‘The Dalston Railway Tavern’ in their Live Session for local music collective Vandalism Begins at Home.
But talking of the latter, the band say of the east London pub: “Jamaicans, Irish and the rest chilled in easy style to the sound of country and Reggae music. This was the London we loved. We settled down amongst the smoke, Guinness and jerk chicken. Second-generation Irish, not sure where we belonged, but as the Kingsland High Street roared outside, we knew where we felt at home!”
The band’s founder member, Paul Anderson, said: “Like a beautiful west-of-Ireland sunset, or a perfect pint of stout, our video will stun you and look amazing.”
Filmmaker Jasbir Nangla from Two Sides Studios said of the ‘Dalston Railway Tavern’ video: “We’ve been working with the lads since last year and we’re excited to be able to bring their vision for this music video to life. We are thrilled to be a part of the boys’ journey and we can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us and especially for Luton!’
The ‘Lonely Londoners’ EP is available to buy on Bandcamp and can be streamed on all other digital platforms. You can also buy a physical copy of the EP.
Missing The Ferry are celebrating the release with a hometown show, supporting the mighty Biblecode Sundays in Luton’s Hat Factory on Friday May 9.
