Rob Edwards says getting Jordan Clark to sign a contract extension shows the ambition of Luton Town, particularly as the manager believes the midfielder could play for any club he likes.
The 29-year-old penned a new long-term deal today after a wonderful season, in which he’s played 36 times.
On putting pen to paper, Clark admitted he loves Luton and the feeling’s mutual with Edwards.
The Town boss said of the midfield maestro: “His all-round play has been brilliant and for us to get him to sign a longer contract shows the ambition of the club. I think it’s really important to keep our best players around, because I genuinely believe that Clicker could play for anyone.
“He’s shown that he’s a top player at this level and we are really lucky to have him at the football club.”
And Edwards is convinced that there’s even more to come from the Yorkshireman, with the manager outlining one aspect of his play he’s keen to see improve.
“Jordan’s been in brilliant form recently and since we’ve come in, I’ve been delighted with how he’s been around the place,” said Edwards.
“I know I say this about everyone, but he is a brilliant lad, and his performances have been top-notch. Everyone will see the lovely touches that he has, the little flicks and bits of skill, and we want that to continue. But his work-rate, his endeavour and his honesty are so valuable, plus he’s scored a couple of really important goals and we want him to continue to be more of a goal threat, because we’ve seen that he’s got it in him.”
