A new entertainment venue is preparing to open in the town centre this December, reviving a well-known site with deep roots in the town’s history and promising to bring something new – and perhaps a little glamorous – to Luton’s nightlife scene.

The venue, to be called Masons, which gives a nod to one of its former uses as the town’s Masonic Lodge, will open its doors at 3 Church Street on December 6, bringing life back to the building last occupied by a Pizza Express restaurant, which closed last year.

The new venue, described on its official website as a destination for “elegant table seating, exquisite dining, premium beverages, and world-class entertainment,” aims to offer a sophisticated alternative to traditional nightlife.

Promising an immersive experience that blends live music, DJ sets, themed events, and big screen sporting coverage, Masons is positioning itself as a stylish, reservation-led venue with a focus on curated nights out rather than casual drop-ins.

The grand opening night is expected to showcase the venue’s concept in full: plush seating, exclusive atmosphere, and a line-up of entertainment, including DJ Luck and MC Neat and Baby D, aimed at offering a premium evening experience. In the lead-up to Christmas, Masons has also announced a series of themed party nights on 12, 19 and 20 December, alongside regular entertainment on other dates.

While some events will require booking in advance, others – such as post-match entertainment after every Luton Town home football game starting 13 December – will be free to enter. The website suggests that many of the venue’s events will be themed and ticketed, with limited capacity and a strong emphasis on table service.

For Luton, the repurposing and transformation of the building into a live events and entertainment space reflects a broader nationwide trend of repurposing central town venues into multi-use social spaces, which has the potential to attract footfall into the town centre.
