
A well-known Luton pub has been forced to close for repairs after a water pipe burst due to roadworks outside caused flooding inside the building.
The Sugar Loaf, on New Town Street, announced the issue on social media on Sunday, saying: ‘Due to an unexpected burst water pipe outside our premises, we will be closed tomorrow Sunday 17th August. We’re working with the relevant services to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.”
The pub will remain shut today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday), but a further post on social media until further notice while repairs are carried out.
In a further statement on Facebook this evening, the pub said “We’re Reopening – Wednesday 20th August. We’re pleased to let you know that all repair works to the burst water pipes should be completed soon, and we’ll be reopening our doors on Wednesday 20th August at 1:00pm. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this unexpected closure.”
