The Post Office is set to re-open in Luton town centre following the closure of its retail partner WH Smith last month.
A branch had been situated inside the high street retailer’s Luton Point shopping centre unit, but after a closure was carried out, the town centre was left without a Post Office.
Luton South MP Rachel Hopkins revealed in December, after correspondence with the Post Office, calling on them to find a new home in the heart of the town, that options were being investigated.
Now, in a letter to customers, the Post Office has confirmed it will return to the shopping centre on April 16.
The letter read: ‘We are keen to restore services to this community as soon as possible, so we have decided to go ahead with our plans. The re-opening of the branch in a new location is a commercial decision for Post Office Ltd and we are not seeking feedback on this aspect of the change.’
