Dan Potts says Luton Town will “always hold a special place in my heart” after it was announced his nine-year spell as a Hatter will come to an end.
The defender will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June, bringing to a close a journey that started in League Two when he was signed by John Still, and ended in him captaining the team and scoring a penalty in the shootout as Luton won promotion to the Premier League a year ago.
Sadly, injuries meant that Potts didn’t feature for the club in the top-flight as they suffered an immediate relegation back to the Championship.
But, posting on Instagram, the 30-year-old said: “After nine unforgettable years at Luton Town, the time has come for me to say goodbye.
“From League 2 to the Premier League, our journey together has been nothing short of extraordinary.
“I’ve had the privilege of experiencing three promotions, work alongside incredible staff and share the pitch and changing room with some of the best teammates who have made every moment special.
“To the fans, your passion and loyalty have been the driving force behind our achievements. You’ve been there through every high and low, and your support has never wavered.
“I leave full of gratitude with memories that will last a lifetime and confidence the club will continue to strive. This club will always hold a special place in my heart.
“Thank you, Luton Town, for such an amazing chapter in my life.”
