Sonny Bradley believes Cardiff’s losing start after relegation from the Premier League will not make them easier to beat when Luton travel to the Welsh capital on Saturday.
The Bluebirds began life back in the Championship with a chastening 3-2 defeat to Wigan after going 1-0 up, while the Hatters took a point from a six-goal thriller at home to a Middlesbrough side expected to challenge for promotion this term.
But Bradley, who finally broke his club duck with a 22-yard top corner scorcher against Boro, said: “We can’t approach the game thinking that Cardiff are on a downer and we’re going to comfortably win because we know that’s not going to happen.
“Cardiff, two seasons ago, got to the Premier League because they were very good in this division. They’ve got a very experienced manager and some very good players so it’s going to be difficult.”
But the centre back can envisage that the trip to the Cardiff City Stadium could produce a different spectacle to the goal-fest that opened Town’s campaign.
“It could be a completely different game,” said Bradley, adding: “They’re a big team with a different style of football so we’ll have to train really well and train in a style that’s going to beat Cardiff.
“I think it’s going to be different again but it’s a game we can go in with a positive mindset and try to get the win.”
Hatters striker James Collins, who also scored against Middlesbrough, agreed with Bradley about the physical task that likely awaits Luton in the south of Wales.
“There are no easy games this year, unfortunately, so will pick ourselves up now, recover and work towards a tough game at Cardiff next week.
“Neil Warnock sides are good at what they do so will have to be right at it.”
