A popular Chinese restaurant will serve its final customers this Sunday after announcing it will close after more than 40 years.

Man Ho in Bury Park has been serving Cantonese food since it opened in 1984, but in a farewell posted on Facebook yesterday, the Dunstable Road food spot said: “Dear Value Customers and Friends, Man Ho is officially closing it doors on the 27th of July 2025. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support over the years. We wish you all a healthy and prosperous future and may our paths cross again in the near future. Love from The Man Ho Team.”

While no further reason has been given for the decision, in early April the restaurant was told to make major improvements as a local round of food hygiene ratings were published. However, on the Food Standards Agency website, the restaurant’s last inspection, dated on April 15, Man Ho was awarded a hygiene rating of four out of 5 and rated ‘good’. It is not clear whether this was a factor in the closure.
