James Bree’s transfer switch to Southampton is “progressing”, while Luton are in a “similar situation” regards a loan deal for Leeds right back Cody Drameh, Hatters boss Rob Edwards has confirmed.
Reports in the last 24 hours have indicated that Town have accepted a £750,000 offer for their right-back and that Drameh will be his replacement.
The youngster is reportedly having a medical with Luton today and while Edwards wouldn’t be drawn on the details surrounding both players, during his pre-match press conference for Town’s FA Cup fourth-round clash with Grimsby he said: “We’ve obviously had an offer from Southampton for James Bree. Things are progressing between the clubs at the moment. I’m not in a position at the moment to say anything else. There’s nothing more to give. We can update if it goes the way we expect it to.
“Cody is very, very similar, We’ve been aware of him. We knew there would be a chance of us losing Breezy in the window and Cody is someone we’ve been aware of and liked for quite a while. It’s a similar situation with him as well.”
Asked if there is any more business to be done before the transfer deadline next week, Edwards said: “Tuesday’s the deadline day. There’s one or two bits or possibilities and things that are going on. Nothing anywhere near imminent, but I’m aware that we’re not that far away now and things can happen quite quickly. But there could be one or two bits of business to be done.”
Asked if that would be both in and out of the club, the manager said: “Potentially.”
