Striker Joe Taylor has joined League One side Lincoln City on loan until the rest of the season with Imps’ head coach Michael Skubala committing to returning the 21-year-old to Luton as a better player.
The former Peterborough hotshot was recalled from a successful for spell at Colchester United where he scored 12 times, and had been linked with Bolton Wanderers, but he will now move up a division and head to Sincil Bank with City 11th in the third tier.
Skubala told Lincoln’s website: “Joe has all the attributes that we need: he will add pace, power and threat to our front line, which will help to make us a better team. We are also committed to make sure he returns to Luton as a better player.”
City’s director of football, Jez George, added: “We have worked extremely hard over a long period of time to convince Luton Town and Joe that we are the best club for the next stage of his development, so we are delighted to have secured this loan ahead of a huge number of League One clubs.
“Joe will undoubtedly help us, but it is also crucial to us that we help him as I know a big factor in his decision was the opportunity to work with Michael Skubala, knowing his coaching ability and track record in developing young players.”
Elsewhere, Luton have recalled three players from loan spells, with winger Dion Pereira returning from Sutton United, Elliot Thorpe’s time Shrewsbury Town has been ended after a back injury has restricted him to two appearances, while forward Aribim Pepple has been brought back from National League outfit Bromley after making just six appearances.
In Town’s development squad, Tobias Braney’s loan at Bishop’s Stortford has ended and the striker has now joined Hayes & Yeading United until the end of the season.
Tyrelle Newton also returns from a spell at Hemel Hempstead in National League South, while centre-half Ben Tompkins has extended his loan at National League South Braintree Town until the end of the season.
