Manager Graeme Jones says James Collins can ‘achieve anything’ after a 50th goal for Luton saw Town’s marksman join prolific Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero as the most prolific hitman in all top four English divisions.
Both forwards have hit 20 goals this calendar year, alongside Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki, with the Hatters ace finding the net five times already this term, plus netting an international goal on his Republic of Ireland debut earlier this month.
Collins also reached his half century of strikes in just 102 appearances to put him 25th in the the club’s all-time top scorers list.
Jones, himself a striker in his playing days, said of Collins’ achievement: “It’s incredible. He’s got five now in the Championship, it’s very good.
“James can achieve anything because every day he’s a top professional. He gives himself a chance. He works hard, he lives for the game, he’s 28 and he’s just scored for the Republic of Ireland.
“There are no boundaries. He’s such a pleasure and we all need to be really, really proud of him.”
Matty Pearson, who scored the winner on his first return to Blackburn since being released as a 19-year-old, said: “Collo’s Collo. We know exactly what we’re going to get from him. We know the goals are going to be there, so if we supply him, I hope, you can see through his work rate, that he gets exactly what he deserves.”
