Boxer Linus Udofia will fight Dan Catlin for the English middleweight title in September.
The Lutonian is a previous holder of the national strap, having beaten Tyler Denny in 2019 to become a champion for the first time at the famous York Hall in London.
That will be the venue for his bid to reclaim the English belt that he had to vacate in 2022 to fight Denzel Bentley for the British belt, which ended in the first defeat of his career.
His second shot at the English title comes after his friend and stablemate Brad Pauls vacated to become the British middleweight champion at the weekend, beating Nathan Heaney, a fight that Udofia was in Pauls’ corner for.
But aiming to join Pauls as a champion, Udofia posted on X (formerly Twitter): ‘September 14th! I’m back and locked in! We become a two time English champion’.
And in his favour on September 14 – the 31-year-old’s first fight since December – will be experience, as his 19-2-0 record goes up against Catlin’s 10-1-0. Last year’s victorious Central Area triumph was the Fleetwood fighter’s only taste of championship rounds.
Udofia, on the other hand, has been in two triumphant English title bouts as well unsuccessful battles for the British and WBA intercontinental crowns.
