Tom Lockyer will miss the rest of the season after manager Nathan Jones confirmed the Wales international has had an operation on ligament damage to his ankle.
The centre half limped out of the defeat to Cardiff on February 16 after damaging his ankle in a block tackle.
Lockyer was then called up by Wales for the international break but was sent home early after due to his injury.
Town assistant boss Mick Harford admitted the defender had a setback and today, after the 2-1 defeat to Barnsley Jones confirmed the worst.
“Tom will miss the rest of the season,” he said, adding: “Tom’s had to have an operation. It’s a real strange one really, but he’s had to go and have an operation, which is a bit frustrating for me because he’s going to be out for two months, which only affects a month of the season. But he’s actually had two months out prior to that.”
