Harry Cornick says James Collins is born goalscorer that will smash the ball into an empty training net because he can’t help himself.
Both strikers scored in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Queens Park Rangers, with Collins’ strike his 49th on his 100th appearance for the Hatters.
Told about that stat, Cornick said: “Jesus! He’s some striker. It’s not just in games, in training every day, he’s always scoring. I think it’s just his mentality.
“It’s something I try to learn from every day and it’s the same with Hylts (Danny Hylton), to be fair. They just live to score, that’s what they live and breathe.
“Every day they want to score, even in training if we’re not even doing a drill and the ball is rolling across the goal, he (Collins) cannot resist kicking the ball into the back of the net because that’s what he just loves to do.”
Cornick, who has three goals this season himself, set up Town’s top scorer at the weekend for his fourth in four games, which included a debut strike on his Republic of Ireland debut last week.
On Collins’ international dream day, Cornick said: “It’s brilliant for him, personally. He’s deserved that, no end. He’s scored 20/20 in the last two seasons and he’s started the season really well.
“He’s a born goalscorer and he’ll do it at any level, I believe. Hopefully, he can keep up scoring for us as well.”
