Andros Townsend’s switch from Luton Town to Antalyaspor has been confirmed, ending the former England international’s transfer limbo as he waited in Turkey for the Super Lig side’s transfer registration embargo to be lifted.

Townsend had agreed a deal with Antalyaspor last month but they could not publicly confirm it until they were able to register him with the Turkish Football Federation.

The attacker, who joined the Hatters last term as a free agent, told a BBC podcast, “I don’t know who owns me”.

While the English transfer window closed last month, in Turkey it is open until Friday and the deal has now been completed fully.

“It’s a big thank you and good luck to Andros and we wish him well,” manager Rob Edwards to Luton’s website.

“This move is the right fit for Andros at this stage of his career and is in the best interests of all parties.

“Andros’ professionalism since he set foot inside The Brache has been exemplary – his discipline and attention to detail is something I hope has rubbed off on our young players.

“I’d like to thank him for his hard work and commitment to the cause while he was a Luton Town player, and wish him and his family well in Turkey.”
