Graeme Jones has played down transfer rumours linking Luton with moves for defenders Cameron Carter-Vickers at Tottenham Hotspur and Sesay at Crawley Town.

The transfer window shuts at 5pm tomorrow with the Hatters aiming to add up to three new recruits to the seven that joined over the summer.

Carter-Vickers is a Spurs youth product central defender that has reportedl been attracting the attention of a host of Championship clubs, with Luton lumped in alongside Leeds, Fulham, West Brom, Derby, Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Barnsley.

Though Jones is aware of the 21-year-old after a successful loan spell last term at his former club Swansea, the Hatters chief said: (He’s) somebody that I like. I don’t think we’re close to doing a deal at all for Carter.”

He added: “He’s somebody I know from my time at West Brom. He played for Swansea in a back three three. He played left hand side in a back three. He played right hand side, played in the middle. He’s adaptable, he can play different positions across the back four or the back five.”

On Sesay at League Two Crawley, Jones said: “He is somebody we looked at, no more than that. He’s been a capable right back at Crawley.”
