Luton are prepared for a stress-free transfer deadline day as they do not expect any more signings but are ‘ready to trade’ if clubs enquire about their players.
However, boss Graeme Jones is not expecting to lose any regular first-team players, having today added Cameron Carter-Vickers and Eunan O’Kane on loan deals from Tottenham and Leeds, respectively.
Asked about the possibility of adding to those players, plus Peter Kioso, who was signed last week, Jones said: “I think we’re probably done as far as coming ins are concerned.
“We’re a little bit top heavy now with numbers, is the truth, and we’re still open-minded with trying to trade.”
Asked if he’s expecting interest in his players, Jones joked about welcoming bids In excess of £1million, but added: “I won’t be losing anyone I don’t want to lose, let’s put it like that.
“You know what it’s like, all of a sudden the window comes and then people think when it shuts, ‘I don’t want to be without a centre forward’ or ‘without a goalkeeper’.
“We’re open-minded and ready trade.”
Having signed centre half Carter-Vickers on loan until the end of the season, and with Donvervon Daniels now back in the fold, Jones admitted that Lloyd Jones could be one player that would benefit from a loan move.
“I think he’s in that category. I’ve got a lot of time for Lloyd. I think, if we’d have been in League One this season and had played 46 games, I think you’d have a player on your hands.
“I’m quite happy to state that, but it’s been difficult to give him minutes in the Championship. He’s played at Reading and in the cup and I think he’s acquitted himself well but, like any player, they want a number of games.”
