The University of Bedfordshire has been named one of the UK’s fastest-rising universities after climbing 24 places in the latest Complete University Guide rankings.

The university, which has its main campus in Luton, rose to 106th place in the Complete University Guide 2027, making it the third-highest climber in the country and the most improved university in the East of England.

The latest ranking continues a strong period for the university, which has seen its position improve across several national league tables and student satisfaction surveys over the past year.

University leaders say the rise reflects improvements in teaching quality, student support and the overall student experience.

Professor Andrew Church, interim vice chancellor of the University of Bedfordshire, said: “To be recognised as the third-highest riser in the UK and the most improved university in our region is a significant achievement. It reflects the hard work of our staff and students and, importantly, the strength of the teaching and support we provide.

“Our recent results across national rankings and student surveys show that students value their experience at Bedfordshire, and we remain committed to helping them achieve their ambitions.”

The improvement follows a series of positive results in other higher education rankings. In The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026, the university climbed 11 places and was ranked joint 28th nationally for teaching quality.

It also moved up 19 places in The Guardian University Guide 2026, where it was ranked 26th in the UK for student satisfaction with teaching and feedback. According to the guide, 88 per cent of students said they were satisfied with their teaching.

The university also performed strongly in the National Student Survey 2025, ranking first in the East of England for learning opportunities, second for assessment and feedback and student voice, and third for course teaching.

The University of Bedfordshire has also received recognition in recent years for its work supporting students from a wide range of backgrounds, including first-generation university students, mature learners and those from ethnic minority communities.

University leaders say the latest rankings reinforce its growing reputation for teaching quality, student outcomes and widening access to higher education.
