Goalkeeper Jack Walton will return to Scottish Premiership new-boys Dundee United on a second season-long loan, subject to Scottish Football Association approval and international clearance.

The 26-year-old signed for the Hatters from Barnsley in January 2023, but suffered an injury early on in his time at Kenilworth Road, so has yet to make an appearance for the club.

The former England Under-18 stopper joined the Tangerines on loan last season and kept a club record 19 clean sheets in 36 league appearances, as they won the Scottish Championship, and only conceded a total of 23 goals all season.

“I’m delighted to finally get the deal done – as soon as last season finished, the discussions started,” Walton told United’s website.

“We had great success last year, both personally and collectively, and I felt like I had some unfinished business up here with us getting promoted. I wanted a taste of the Premiership.”

He added: “I learned a lot last season, dealing with different challenges throughout the season, and I’m excited for that to continue next year. I’m just looking forward to the season ahead!”

Luton will travel to Dundee for a pre-season fixture on July 29.
