‘We have to fix that’ – Gabe gutted by last-gasp Gunners winner

Gabriel Osho was left to rue four painful home points dropped at the death against top Premier League opposition and said the Hatters must fix the problem after Arsenal inflicted a very late 4-3 defeat.

The defender was beaten in the air by £105million man Declan Rice in the seventh minute of six added as the Gunners stole what should have been a much-deserved point from Town. There was a sense of deja vu, but even worse, after Town were denied a memorable victory over Liverpool last month.

This time, Luton more than matched Arsenal, but gifted Gabriel Martinelli an opener, and though Osho headed a leveller five minutes later to restore the balance Town shot themselves in the foot again on the stroke of half time, when Gabriel Jesus was left unmarked to head Arsenal into a lead.

And despite a fantastic second half, where Elijah Adebayo and then the outstanding Ross Barkley put the hosts ahead, the pattern was cruelly repeated at the death by Rice after Kai Havertz’s quick-fire leveller.

Osho said: “To be honest I don’t really know what to say at the moment. I don’t really care about the first Premier League goal. It’s just really disappointing not to get anything from that game and I felt that we deserved something.”

It was the second time in three home games where Luton have run one of the big six Premier League clubs close, but unlike losing two points to Liverpool, this time they came away with nothing.

Osho said: “From their (Arsenal’s) perspective, that’s what top teams do, I guess, but from our perspective it’s them and Liverpool now where we’ve probably lost out on four points, which takes us I don’t even know where in the table. We have to fix that. It’s just disappointing at the moment.

“There’s a little bit of a positive in the fact that we’ve gone against Liverpool and Arsenal and pushed them to the end, which you’d probably think, going forward, when we play other home games against lesser opposition than them, then we can get something more out of the game.

“But at the moment it’s just disappointing.”
