Myles Smith has told fans ‘you’re making my dreams come true’ after his latest single ‘Stargazing’ rose to number 4 in the UK Top 10 charts.
The track had previously entered the Top 10 and peaked at number 6, but in this week’s chart rose higher still to number 4, having slipped to number 7 in the previous week.
Smith, from Leagrave, has had quite the summer. After a sell-out tour across the UK, Europe and USA, he made his TV debut in the first episode of the latest series of BBC 2’s flagship Later…. With Jools Holland show, having released his debut EP ‘You Promised A Lifetime’ in March.
The 26-year-old then made his festival debut on home soil in May when he packed out the BBC Introducing stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Stockwood Park and he has since gone on to play the world-famous Glastonbury Festival, where he performed with Dan Smith from Bastille.
But it’s ‘Stargazing’ which has seen Smith sky-rocket in popularity, also charting at number 41 in America on the Billboard Hot 100 and make his US television debut on the Today show, and he has featured in a stripped back acoustic performance for the BBC, recorded while at Glastonbury.
In a message to his growing number of fans, who have streamed his latest single more than 200 million times on Spotify alone, Smith wrote: “I still can’t get my head around the support for Stargazing, never in my wildest dreams did I expect us to be where we are today so just wanted to say thank you!
“Last week I played my first Glastonbury and was joined by the one and only Dan Smith from Bastille!! I grew up watching his sets at Glasto and to be able to share a stage with him to perform Stargazing AND Pompeii…WHAT?!! You’re making my dreams come true
“We performed a little acoustic version of Stargazing with the BBC which you can watch now.”
