Former Luton Town defender Cohen Bramall says he is ready to “run until the wheels fall off” after joining League One rivals MK Dons following his departure from Kenilworth Road.
The 30-year-old left-sided player has signed for Paul Warne’s newly-promoted side after leaving the Hatters at the end of last season when his contract expired.
Bramall made 35 appearances in all competitions during his only campaign with Luton, featuring in League One, the FA Cup and the EFL Trophy as Jack Wilshere’s side narrowly missed out on the play-offs before lifting the Vertu Trophy at Wembley.
MK Dons announced the signing on Friday, with Bramall admitting Warne’s presence made the move an easy decision after the pair previously worked together at Rotherham United.
“I’m buzzing to get it sorted and get it over the line,” Bramall told the club’s YouTube channel.
“I’ve kept in contact with Warney for years now since he signed me at Rotherham and we’ve got a really good relationship.
“I think with Warney, it’s just about getting your head down and running just as fast as you can until the wheels fall off, which I think I can do in abundance.
“Me and him worked well together in the past and I think we definitely will work well this season. It was perfect. It was an easy decision for me to come here and work under Warney because we just get together.”
Bramall also believes the experience of playing in both the Championship and League One has helped prepare him for another promotion challenge.
“Momentum is massive in football,” he said.
“As you can see, Luton did it and we did it last year. We got momentum in the last 13 or 14 games.
“It’s super important to start the season strong. I think the players should definitely take confidence into the first game of the season and even the pre-season games.
“Warney knows how big that is. I think he’s had five promotions in eight years, which is insane. I back him 100 per cent to do it again, whether that’s automatic or through the play-offs. That’s why I’ve come here because I want to get promoted.”
Warne believes Bramall’s qualities will strengthen his side ahead of their return to League One.
“Cohen Bramall is a player I’ve had before,” the MK Dons boss said.
“He’s had a really good career and he’s very quick on the pitch.
“He’s like a full-back that has winger tendencies, who always wants to take people on and gives us a great dynamic energy down the left side.
“He’s someone I’ve worked with before and we’ve always kept in touch, so this was a pretty easy signing and it was easy to convince him to come here.
“He wants to get back to the Championship, so he’s another great addition to the squad.”
Sporting director Liam Sweeting added that Bramall had been on the club’s radar for some time.
“We’re really pleased to welcome Cohen to MK Dons,” he said.
“He’s a player we’ve tracked for a long time and someone we’ve consistently felt would be an excellent fit for the way we want to play.
“Cohen possesses some outstanding attributes that we believe will have a real impact down the left-hand side of our team. He brings pace, athleticism and an attacking threat, while also having the experience and quality to influence games consistently at this level.”
Bramall could come up against Luton for the first time since leaving Kenilworth Road when the two near neighbours clash in the league on October 17 at Stadium MK.
