Luton have announced the ticket prices for their first season in the top flight of English football for 31 years and it’s fair to say that Hatters fans are delighted with the offer as they took to social media in their droves to praise the club for looking after loyal supporters.

Town booked their place in the Premier League with a 6-5 penalty shootout victory over Coventry City in the Championship play-off final last month and a few days before the top-tier fixtures are released, the club has revealed its new prices, which have gone down a storm with supporters who, a decade ago, were preparing to fork out for season tickets for non-league football.

You’re not wrong. One banner says it all. Hatters supporters in St George’s Square hold aloft a sign that explains Luton’s nine-year journey from the non-league to the Premier League. Fairytales do come true.

Kenilworth Road is now undergoing £10million worth of upgrades to make the 118-year-old stadium Premier League ready, but with a place at the top table of football in this country thought to be worth around £170million, Luton has, not unsurprisingly, opted against fleecing its loyal fans.

They’ve announced only the most minimal of increases for earlybird season card renewals. In fact, the biggest increase any regular match-going Hatter will have pay to watch Town take on the giants of the Premier League is an average of £1 extra per home game.

Adults that have had a season ticket for five years, when Luton were in League One, will see their total outlay go from £430 to £450 (just under £24 a home game). That increase works out as less than the cost of two adult tickets (£10.20 each) to one film at Luton’s Cineworld, while young fans under the age of 17 and accompanied by an adult, will pay just £115 for their ticket (around £6 per match).

Hatters chief executive told 20,000 fans that lined the streets for Luton’s promotion victory parade last month, “don’t change. Let’s still be us, still stay grounded, let’s not change.”

And the ticket pricing has led by that example as, writing in the official tickets brochure, Sweet said: ‘We are striving to produce the best value ticket for you as we appreciate your constant support, and while costs have gone up slightly as we attempt to compete on the pitch at the higher level, we have kept the prices increase of a ticket with a season card to an average of £1 per match for Premier League football.”

And that news has sparked a flurry of thrilled Luton fans taking to social media to wax lyrical about their club and the season ahead.

Even those fans that may miss out have still praised for the club looking after fans.
