Sonny Bradley is in agreement with former Luton loan star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall that Town are lucky to have Manager Nathan Jones “at the wheel” after he signed a big new five-and-a-half-year contract.

The Welshman’s new deal, announced on New Year’s Day, will keep him at Kenilworth Road until the 2026/27 campaign.

In November, Jones passed the 250-game mark as Hatters manager and he’s set his sights on leading the club out at their new Power Court stadium, as well as guiding them to the Premier League.

So far, in his two spells, he’s improved the club’s playing fortunes in every season he’s been in the hotseat, since first taking the job in 2016, back n League Two.

Captain Bradley said: “The manager’s record at this club speaks for itself and I think it’s a no-brainer for this football club to give the manager that contact.

“I’m delighted for him and he certainly deserves it and I think Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, on his social media, had some nice words to stay towards the gaffer.

“I think he said something along the lines of while the manager’s at the wheel we’ll continue to improve and I completely agree with him and think it’s a good decision from the club and the manager.”

Jones signed Bradley in 2018 after he opted not to renew his contract at Plymouth. And asked what makes Jones stand out from other bosses, the 30-year-old said: “He’s relentless in everything he does. I’m in my fourth year now and throughout the time that Nathan’s been here, not once have I ever felt like he’s taken his foot off the gas.

“He’s full throttle, always wanting to improve, always wanting the players to get better and always wanting to improve the club’s position.

“I’m not just talking about game days, I’m talking about every day in training. He doesn’t allow any sloppiness. He doesn’t allow people to drop their standards. I’m pretty sure he’s well aware that if people start dropping their standards, it stops us getting valuable resource and stops us from moving forward.

“I think that’s ingrained in his character, that’s who he is. I’m pretty sure, he’ll never change. At times, I’ll be honest, his energy is hard to get on the level, but it’s what we need if we want to continue to improve.

“I do feel like the club are very lucky to have him at the wheel.”

Forward Admiral Muskwe has only been at the club since the summer, after his switch from Leicester. He said at the time, that Jones made his decision to move to Kenilworth Road an easy one

Ahead of jetting off to join the Zimbabwe squad for in the African Cup of Nations, the 23-year-old said of the manager’s new deal: “We’re all delighted with it, what he’s done for the club and took the club from where it was and where he’s taken it.

“Hopefully he’ll continue to take it further and to even bigger and better things, he’s at the forefront so we’re all delighted he’s here to stay.

“The attention to detail, coming from Leicester in the Premier League, I noticed the minor details, other aspects which maybe other coaches don’t do. But coming here, it’s exactly the same, the little details, the structure of the training, and every single thing.

“No stone’s left unturned, everything’s planned to the smallest detail and everything’s done to perfection, or as close to perfection as we possibly can, and I think that puts us in a good position going into every game.”
