Luton manager Matt Bloomfield admitted Jacob Brown was “naturally” going to attract interest on transfer deadline, though nothing materialised amid reports that a move to Bristol City collapsed.
The forward has been out of action since March after suffering a serious ankle injury, which has meant he’s missed the start of the League One season with Luton.
Nevertheless, reports from Bristol linked Brown with a late switch to Ashton Gate with the Bristol Live reporting that a deal had collapsed despite a medical being booked.
“Browny’s had some interest. Again, it didn’t come to anything in the end,” Bloomfield explained. “Browny scored in the Premier League two seasons ago. So again, another player that is naturally going to have some interest, and he did. But again, he’s still with us and he’s fully focused on trying to contribute when he gets himself in.”
Brown, however, remains sidelined as he continues to recover from the operation to repair his ankle ligaments and Bloomfield admitted that he’s not yet close to a return.
“It was a serious injury he suffered,” Bloomfield said, adding: “No, he’s not close, but he’s working incredibly hard.
“He’s worked incredibly hard. So we know he’ll be fit when he’s fit. Browny, we have to give him some time. But he’s working very hard and he’s back out on the grass running. So he’s now just going through a slow process because of the length of time he’s been out.”
