Luton boss Rob Edwards said Allan Campbell’s absence from tonight’s 3-2 Carabao Cup win over Gillingham was just a selection issue but hinted that an exit for the midfielder is something the club is looking at before the transfer window shuts.
The Scottish midfielder hasn’t featured in the Premier League this season, so was expected to make an appearance in the cup, but he wasn’t named in the squad amid speculation that his Town spell is coming to an end.
Asked if Campbell’s omission was down to an injury, Edwards said: “Al’s alright, it was just a bit of a selection one, to be honest. It felt like what we needed, on the bench.
“We absolute love him. He deserves to play football as well, because he’s the best professional.
“It’s probably a little bit difficult for him to get that game time, so it’s something that we’re looking at, at the moment with him.
“He deserves to play. We love him to bits here as well, so if he’s here (after the window), brilliant.”
