Luton boss Rob Edwards is hopeful that Jordan Clark and Dan Potts will not be out injured for long after both players suffered blows in the final pre-season double-header at German Bundesliga side Bochum.

Clark was stretchered off in the first game, which saw Town lose 2-1, while Potts’s afternoon ended after 26 minutes in the second friendly, which the Hatters won 3-1.

Mads Andersen also missed both games after coming down with a sickness bug, but is expected to recover quickly.

Edwards said about the injuries: “Hopefully, Potts and Clicker are not too bad. Initial examinations show hopefully they’ll be OK fairly quickly, but we’ll be able to assess them in more detail when we get back home.”

The games gave Edwards food for thought ahead of next weekend’s historic Premier League curtain-raiser at Brighton and Hove Albion.

“I don’t know the team yet, fully,” the manager told the club’s website.

“There are spots that are available and we’ll see what business we’re able to do in this last week, going into the game. But, overall, I feel like we’re in a decent place, going into a difficult but exciting first fixture.”

Luke Berry bagged a double and Elijah Adebayo also found the net in the second game in Germany as Town ended their preparations with a victory.

That came after Tom Lockyer scored a header in the opening game, but Luton tasted their only defeat of the summer campaign.
