Jordan Reynolds says he’s taking an “army” of hometown support as he finally fights in front of a full crowd at the third time of asking when he takes on Italian Rodolfo Paterno in a six round super-welterweight bout at the legendary York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.
The Wanderer (2-0-0) was due to fight Randal Barlow in his third professional fight having dispensed with Robbie Chapman and Jan Ardon to kick-start his professional career. But his original opponent had to pull out and Paterno (2-4-2) has stepped in as a late replacement for the clash on the undercard of the WBO Global super-featherweight title fight between Archie Sharp and Alexis Boureima Kabore.
Former England amateur captain Reynolds told IFL TV: “I’ve had two fights with Covid restrictions and a handful of people. They gave me 350 tickets and they went straight out the door in the first week. Now we’ll have the army there.
“We’ll have lads from Preston, Luton my home town, the east end, Tottenham. There’ll be a mob everywhere, so it’s going to be a big atmosphere. I can’t wait.”
Reynolds also featured in a short film to promote the fight. He said of his first ever appearance as a pro at York Hall, “It’s like my debut again, but this time it’s with a crowd and I can get the real support behind me.”
