Hatters boss Matt Bloomfield has maintained his silent stance on his former striker Richard Kone amid reports that Wycombe have rejected a fourth Luton transfer bid for the hotshot, reported to be £7million.

The manager took over at Town earlier this month and has signed three players this week, but his former charge remains at Adams Park, with claims that Town have offered £4million up front and £3million in add-ons.

Bloomfield, who spent half his life with the Chairboys as a player and manager, has kept respectful counsel on Kone, who has bagged 19 goals in Wycombe’s League One promotion push.

“I know Richard,” said the 40-year-old when asked about reports of the latest attempt to bring the goalscorer to Kenilworth Road.

“He’s a great boy, but I’m not going to sit and talk about transfers of players at other clubs. It’s not right. It just doesn’t feel right.

“And as I’ve always said, it’s got to be right for our football club. I won’t be commenting on anything, speculation, it’s not right to.

“I’m employed by Luton Town Football Club and I’m here to do the best job I possibly can. Our interactions and our discussions as a recruitment team so far have been fantastic.

“We’ll do the best we can for us and what’s right for us this season.”
