Luton Goalkeeper James Shea will miss the rest of the season with the club saying he needs “equires surgery and a lengthy period of rehabilitation”.

But to soften the blow the 30-year-old has penned a new deal.

Shea recently completed a century of appearances for the club before suffering a season-ending knee injury at Cardiff on Easter Monday.

A statement from Luton Town read: ‘He now requires surgery and a lengthy period of rehabilitation, but knows he will have the full support of everyone at Kenilworth Road after putting pen to paper before today’s game.

We will catch up with James to get his thoughts in midweek, and manager Nathan Jones will speak about it post-match this afternoon.’

Shea’s injury means Harry Isted makes his full Championship debut, after the revelation on Thursday that his four previous appearances (2 in the Football League Trophy and substitute’s outings in the FA Cup and Championship) do not count as senior appearances.

It saw youth keeper Jameson Horlick given a place on the first-team subs’ bench for Luton.

  1. Excellent read, I just passed this onto a friend who was doing some research on that. And he just bought me lunch as I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch!
