Joe Taylor has completed a permanent transfer to join Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

The Hatters signed the 22-year-old from Peterborough United on transfer deadline day in January 2023 and he thought he’d scored a winner in the Championship play-off final, only for it to be ruled out by VAR.

He scored in the penalty shootout which Town won to clinch promotion to the Premier League, but he never featured in the top flight, as he was loaned out to Colchester United and Lincoln City.

In the summer, it was understood that he was close to a move to Huddersfield, but Luton’s bid to bring in Leicester striker Tom Cannon didn’t materialise and he went on loan to Stoke City instead.

That saw Taylor remain at Kenilworth Road and he appeared in 13 of Luton’s 26 Championship fixtures, but largely had his minutes limited to cameos from the bench
