Nathan Jones says Luton are not close to signing Elliot Anderson on loan from Newcastle United, despite reports – but the manager confirmed the 19-year-old is on his radar.

A story emerged yesterday that the attacking midfielder was on the verge of joining the Hatters, who had initially approached the Magpies back in December 2020.

Town were then linked with Anderson again in the summer, but Jones ruled that out as he’d suffered an injury during the last transfer window and hadn’t had a pre-season.

After The Athletic reported that a move was finally in the offing, Hatters boss Jones today spoke of his admiration for Anderson, but that is all – at the moment.

“We like Elliot. It’s wrong of me to speak of another player from another club, but we’ve been having conversations about Elliot for probably about a year. We like him as a player, we think he’s a good footballer. Is it right to being him in here? That’s yet to be decided.

“We’ve watched him, monitored him and we like probably 50 other players, but probably ten other players who we really, really like. He’s one of those. It’s not to say that we want to sign him but he’s one that we’ve been in contact with Newcastle and Steve Bruce in the past.

“There’s truth in it because we like him. Are we imminent? Are we close to doing a deal? Absolutely not, because it’s not actually clear if he’s allowed to go on loan.

“We like him. We think he’s a good player. So do Newcastle. Are we close to signing him? No. No, we’re not.”

The manager also ruled out any interest in Wigan winger Jordan Jones, saying: “I can categorically say no,” adding: “Not because we don’t like him, but we’re not looking in that position.”

  35. I mastered more new stuff on this fat loss issue. One issue is that good nutrition is highly vital when dieting. An enormous reduction in bad foods, sugary food, fried foods, sugary foods, beef, and bright flour products could be necessary. Keeping wastes harmful bacteria, and toxins may prevent targets for losing fat. While selected drugs for the short term solve the problem, the horrible side effects usually are not worth it, and they never provide more than a temporary solution. It can be a known undeniable fact that 95 of diet plans fail. Thanks for sharing your notions on this blog.
