Oxford United have confirmed that Luton Town defender has returned to Kenilworth Road after the end of his loan spell.

The defender joined the U’s in January in a loan deal with an option to buy, but he only made six league appearances as United suffered relegation from the Championship.

The 21-year-old was named Luton Town’s Young Player of the Year last season and made 15 appearances before he linked up again with former Hatters boss Matt Bloomfield after he became head coach at the Kassam Stadium in January.

Makosso’s return to Town confirms that Oxford have not enacted the option to buy the Republic of Congo international, who is now likely to return for the Hatters’ pre-season.
