Panter recalled from Dundee loan spell

Corey Panter has left Dundee after being recalled by Luton Town.

The 21-year-old defender joined Dundee on loan in July but made just two appearances, scoring on his debut against Forfar in the Premier Sports Cup. He then made his league debut on Boxing Day when he played 90 minutes at Aberdeen.

In a statement, Dundee said: ‘We would like to thank Corey for his efforts while at the club and wish him all the best for the future.’

Panter penned a new development contract in June 2021 and speaking about the academy product in September, Town boss Nathan Jones wasn’t concerned about his lack of match action.

He said: “He’s playing in the Scottish Premiership and he’s at a decent side. I know Charlie Adam there and he’s doing well. If he gets some game time then that’s better than just playing under-23 games here and with the greatest respect to some of the opposition we play against. 

“He’s in a first team environment, he’s moved away and he’s not like he’s gone to Glasgow or a big city. He’s gone to a place that is slightly more remote, so he’ll be able to settle down and knuckle down into his football. 

“We’re really happy with that and if he happens to make ten or 12 Scottish Premiership appearances, or cup games, then it’ll be a productive exercise, plus he’s gone away and he’s making more of a name for himself. We’re pleased with that.”

The Hatters haven’t played a match since the December 11 draw with Championship promotion favourites Fulham, after reporting a series of Covid-19 cases on Christmas Day saw their festive fixtures postponed.
