Luton shoegaze rockers Reverie are about to return from an 11-year hiatus with the release of their track ‘Optimism’ after they reformed during lockdown and recorded remotely.

The four-piece scattered around the country and even Brisbane in Australia after ten years together between 1999 and 2009, but they hooked up again over social media during the coronavirus pandemic and it led to them recording one of their old unreleased live favourites.

Now, ‘Optimism’ is set to be released on all streaming platforms this Friday (May 28), with the band also currently putting new music together by recording tracks and sending them to each other.

Frontman Gerard McMahon said: “We were chatting during lockdown over Facebook Messenger how we never got around to record and release ‘Optimism’.

“Even though we played it live and demoed it numerous times, it always felt like quite a difficult track to capture. So, over lockdown, we decided to see if we could record and produce it to how we envisioned it.

“It was great fun and a ray of light in quite a dark time with the pandemic. Afterwards we thought let’s pop it up on Spotify and finally share it with the world. Hopefully that small ray comes through for the listener.”

You can pre-save ‘Optimism’ now on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and Tidal, or stream it on those sites from Friday May 28.

Until then, you can reacquaint yourself with their back catalogue on Soundcloud and their website.
