Luton Airport has been recognised as one of Europe’s leading airports for the second consecutive year after receiving a Highly Commended award at the prestigious ACI Europe Best Airport Awards.

The accolade follows the airport being named Best European Airport in the 10-25 million passengers category in 2024, continuing a run of industry recognition that has also seen it ranked among the world’s top 10 low-cost airports in the Skytrax World Airport Awards.

The ACI Europe Best Airport Awards are regarded as one of the aviation industry’s highest honours, recognising excellence in areas including passenger experience, innovation and sustainability.

Judges praised Luton Airport for its commitment to creating wider social value beyond its core operations. The panel highlighted the airport’s work supporting education, skills development and career opportunities, as well as its accessibility initiatives, describing its overall performance as “remarkable across all areas”.

The award was presented during ACI Europe’s 36th Annual Congress and General Assembly in Prague.

Alberto Martin, chief executive of Luton Airport, said: “We’re delighted to be named among the best airports in Europe. This recognition reflects London Luton Airport’s ambition, performance and progress across all aspects of our operation as we continue to deliver our vision to be the UK’s simplest and friendliest major airport. I am extremely proud and thankful to all of our teams and partners whose passion, professionalism and collaboration have made this possible”.

The independent awards are judged by a panel of aviation industry experts and recognise airports of all sizes from across Europe.

The latest recognition adds to a growing list of accolades for the airport, which has invested heavily in improving the passenger experience while also expanding its work with local communities through education, employment and literacy initiatives.
