Luton owe Preston a defeat because they should’ve beaten them at Deepdale, that’s according to skipper Sonny Bradley.
Town lost 2-1 in the December reverse Championship fixture to a scrappy late Jayden Stockley goal, after Harry Cornick had squandered a golden one-on-one chance to put the visitors in the lead just before conceding.
The Hatters host play-off contenders Preston on Saturday, having taken a point in each of their last two games and going unbeaten in their last three at home, while North End have lost their last three.
Bradley, who has helped keep three clean sheets in his last league games, said: “In the reverse fixture, we feel like we should’ve won that game, but the way things were going at the time, Harry misses a one-on-one and, all of a sudden, there’s a chance at the other end.
“It’s a scrappy goal they scored. They go off and beat us 2-1. It’s the way it was going at the time. We feel like we probably owe them one. It’s a game we want to win.”
Town have taken seven points from their last three league matches at Kenilworth Road, and Bradley said: “For the majority of the season at home I think we’ve been really good. The results might not reflect that, but I think we’ve been competitive in most games we’ve played.
“The ones that we have lost, alright, Hull beat us 3-0. It was never a 3-0 game. But apart from that they’ve always been really close games.
“We know we can win games at home with a certain level of performance. And now we’ve found a way of gaining points away from home, so it’s about getting the balance right in both home and away fixtures and picking up as many points as we can.”
