The Hatters can begin planning for the return of 2,000 supporters after the government announced that Luton will placed in Tier 2 restrictions, once the second national Coronavirus lockdown ends on Wednesday.

But, in his programme notes for the 1-1 draw with Birmingham on Tuesday night, director Stephen Browne wrote, ‘Luton Town are perfectly placed to be able to meet all the standards required and have all of the processes in place ready for that first possible date.

‘We are proud of the work done to date, (club secretary) Chris Clark has done an amazing job coordinating our Covid efforts, and we can’t wait to see you. This is truly excellent news on so many levels – the club, you, the Hatters community, Luton….everyone.’

Browne also added: ‘The team on and off the pitch are ready for action and to do everything needed as details emerge from the government. We are in close liaison with all the football governing bodies, the government, and other clubs to make sure we are at the forefront of getting people back into the stadia.’
