Luton Town manager Jack Wilshere says that Kasey Palmer made it clear to the club he wants to be a Hatter, but he’s not at the moment.

Reports yesterday from the Hull Daily Mail suggested a deal had been done with the Kenilworth Road club that would see  the Jamaican international sign permanently for the League One side after a stellar loan spell in the second half of last season.

Added to that, Palmer has posted on Instagram during the summer, his personal training sessions with Hatters Isaiah Jones, Gideon Kodua and Shaydon Morris.

His kids have also been shown on online in Town kits, as well as numerous other online interactions interpreted as clues by Luton fans.

But as yet, the 29-year-old is on holiday and has not joined up with the Hatters squad, all of whom reported back for pre-season training yesterday.

Speaking about Palmer’s current situation at The Brache on the second day of pre-season, Wilshere said: “Kasey’s not here.

“I saw he put a post up on Instagram. So I’m like everyone else. I’m looking on Instagram, seeing where he is, seeing if he’s looking fit or not.

“No, I made it clear at the end of the season and, well, he probably made it clear to us that he wants to be here. We want him. He’s loved by, not only the fans, but by the coaches, by the players.

“Yes, however, at the moment, he’s not [a Luton player].”

Palmer became a huge hit on his loan spell with Luton last season, winning the Vertu Trophy at Wembley, and scoring eight goals in 23 appearances after switching from Hull in January.

The Tigers have also been trimming their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, with Aidon Shehu, Akin Famewo and Ivor Pandur all departing the MKM Stadium.
