Luton Town will begin their bid to return to the Championship with a trip to Reading as the full 2026/27 League One fixture list has been released today.

Jack Wilshere’s side start the new league campaign away to the Royals on Saturday, August 15, with the lunchtime clash at the Select Car Leasing Stadium kicking off at 12.30pm and set to be shown live on Sky Sports+.

The Hatters will now hope to make a positive start to a campaign carrying high expectations following their EFL Trophy triumph and strong finish to last term, where they narrowly missed out on the play-offs by one point.

Before that opening league fixture, the competitive season will get underway in the first round of the Carabao Cup on the weekend of August 8-9. Luton are ball number 16 in the draw, which takes place later today.

The Hatters’ first home league match follows a week after the Reading trip when newly-promoted Notts County visit Kenilworth Road on August 22. It will be the Magpies’ first league appearance at the ground for nine years.

Supporters will not have to wait long for some of the division’s biggest fixtures either. Leicester City’s first trip to Bedfordshire since their relegation from the Championship is scheduled for October 24. Sheffield Wednesday visit Kenilworth Road on January 9.

The festive schedule gives Town fans a Boxing Day home fixture for the second consecutive year, with a first ever Football League clash against Bromley at Kenilworth Road on December 26.

Wilshere’s side then face AFC Wimbledon away on December 29 before making the long trip to Plymouth Argyle on New Year’s Day.

Easter could prove crucial in the promotion race, with Plymouth visiting Kenilworth Road on Good Friday, March 26, before the Hatters head to Wigan Athletic on Easter Monday, March 29.

The run-in also includes home matches against AFC Wimbledon, Huddersfield Town and Wycombe Wanderers, while the final away trip of the season takes Town to Cambridge United on May 1.

Luton’s final match of the regular season will be at Kenilworth Road against Blackpool on Saturday, May 8, with all League One fixtures kicking off simultaneously at 12.30pm.

The fixture list also leaves open the possibility of a busy cup campaign, with potential Carabao Cup ties scheduled throughout the season and Wembley once again on the horizon should the Hatters enjoy another successful run in the Vertu Trophy.
