Jack Wilshere says he’s “not sure” of any offers for striker Lasse Nordås after reports from Swedish media that there is interest in the striker, but he has ruled out any Hatters moves for a Birmingham full back.
The Expressen newspaper today reported that the Norwegian “has an offer for the table from Raków Częstochowa in Poland, which he is considering.”
It was also reported that “Hammarby and Malmö FF have shown interest” in the forward who has been told he can leave Luton during the remaining three weeks of the transfer window.
Nordås spent the second half of last season on loan at Dutch top flight side Heerenveen, but has hasn’t featured in any of the clubs pre-season fixtures.
And, yesterday, Nordås’ future was all but confirmed when he was not given a squad number for the coming season, along with Jerry Yates, Reuell Walters and Tom Holmes, who have all been told they can leave Kenilworth Road.
Wilshere spoke last weekend after the 1-0 pre-season defeat to Go Ahead Eagles, about the futures of Nordås and Yates’ being away from the Hatters.
Asked ahead of tomorrow’s season opener in the Carabao Cup at Gillingham whether there was any truth to the reports of a Raków move for Nordås, Wilshere said: “I don’t know. Lasse is someone when I talk about the group of the players that I had a really honest conversation with and I said this after the [Go Ahead] game the other day, I think Lasse needs to go somewhere to play football. It’s Lasse’s decision as well. So yeah, I’m not sure, to be honest.”
It was also reported earlier in the week that Luton were looking at Birmingham City left back Lee Buchanan, with assistant manager Chris Powell spotted at the Blues’ pre-season clash with Barcelona.
However, asked if there was any truth to that rumour, Wilshere said: “No. Chris Powell went to watch because he lives in Birmingham and he loves football and Barcelona were playing there. And, of course, if he sees someone that he likes, we talk about it, but there’s no truth in that.”
Wilshere has previously talked about Emilio Lawrence returning for a second loan spell at Luton, but he said there has been no developments in that area. However, the Hatters manager has said that defender Teden Mengi is looking for a new club.
