Harry Cornick has credited his time at Luton Town with teaching him “what it takes to be a successful team” after completing his move to AFC Wimbledon.
The 31-year-old has joined the League One club on a deal until the end of the season, with the option of a further year, after leaving Bristol City this summer.
Cornick spent six years at Luton after joining from Bournemouth in 2017 and played a key role in the Hatters’ remarkable rise from League Two to the Championship.
He scored 38 goals and provided 31 assists during his time at Kenilworth Road, helping Town secure back-to-back promotions before eventually moving on to Bristol City in January 2023.
His time at Ashton Gate only brought five goals in 68 appearances and last term he was loaned to Stevenage but suffered a serious ankle injury that ended his season before he was released by the Robins.
Reflecting on his time with the Hatters, Cornick believes the experience of being part of a successful team will stand him in good stead as he begins the next chapter of his career.
“I had a really good experience at Luton, they kept improving at a good rate,” he told the Dons. “It was good to learn how to get promoted and what it takes to be a successful team.”
Cornick will join former Hatter Zack Nelson, who also joined the League One club this summer after his release by thte Hatters and Wimbledon manager Johnnie Jackson said: “Harry’s a player that I’ve long admired. He’s had a good career.
“He’s been part of some really successful teams at this level – thinking back to his Luton team that he went through the leagues with and was a really big part of.
“He’s obviously had a difficult season last season with the injury that he picked up. But I think he’s still at an age where we feel like we can get him firing. He can be a big player for us.”
The first time Cornick could face Luton would be when the Hatters travel to south London on December 29.
