Luton Town are reportedly pushing to strengthen Jack Wilshere’s squad before the transfer window closes, with the Hatters linked with moves for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Donley and Fleetwood Town defender Conor Haughey.
The Hatters yesterday sold George Saville to Bromley, leaving their central midfield options limited after the injuries to Jordan Clark (jaw break) and Jayden Luker (hamstring), with the transfer window closing on Tuesday at 11pm.
The club have also been linked with a move for Manchester United Academy product Dan Gore, though boss Wilshere wouldn’t be drawn on the reports last night after his side lost 2-0 to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.
According to Tottenham Academy-focused social media account, Lilywhite Rose, Luton are in advanced talks to sign the 21-year-old on a season-long loan, with the player reportedly travelling to Bedfordshire for a medical today.
The Northern Ireland international has spent his entire youth career at Spurs after joining the club at the age of eight and has made four first-team appearances, including three substitute outings in the Premier League.
Donley had a successful loan spell at Leyton Orient in 2024/25, alongside Luton keeper Josh Keeley, scoring eight goals in 52 appearances as the O’s reached the League One play-off final.
He spent the first half of last season at Stoke City but was recalled by Tottenham and then joined Oxford United, where made 15 appearances under former Luton boss Matt Bloomfield.
Luton are also reportedly looking at Fleetwood teenager Haughey, with The Lower Tiers website reporting that the Hatters have submitted a bid for the 19-year-old defender.
Huddersfield Town are said to have also made an offer for the Northern Ireland youth international.
Haughey came through Fleetwood’s academy after joining from Glentoran and broke into the first team last season.
He made his senior debut in the Vertu Trophy against Leeds United before making his League Two bow against Grimsby Town on New Year’s Day.
The teenager went on to make 24 appearances during the campaign, including 18 starts in the league, and was named Fleetwood’s Young Player of the Season and he penned a new three-and-a-half-year contract in January, which runs until 2029 and includes an option for a further year.
