Luton defender Tom Lockyer has been selected in Wales’ FIFA World Cup squad and will travel to the Qatar tournament later this month with the likes of Gareth Bale.
The 27-year-old has been in remarkable form for the Hatters this term but last played for his country over a year ago having previously earned 14 caps.
Last week Lockyer was hailed as one of the best defenders in the Championship by manager Nathan Jones, who is on the brink of leaving the club for Premier League Southampton.
The centre half had been part of Rob Page’s EURO 2020 squad and will now be part of history in his country’s first appearance in the World Cup since 1958, along with former Luton midfielder Joe Morrell.
Lockyer and Wales start Group B against USA on Monday 21st November (7pm kick-off), before facing Iran and England.
