Ambulance staff in Bedfordshire and Luton have been formally recognised and thanked for over 400 years of combined service to the NHS, at a long service.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) celebrated the outstanding dedication of 16 individuals whose combined service to healthcare spans 425 years.

Seven people received Ambulance Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medals for 20 years’ frontline ambulance service. Ten colleagues received a coin to celebrate 25 years of NHS service, and one colleague was recognised for an incredible 35 years of NHS service.

EEAST CEO Neill Moloney said: “It was an honour to recognise the incredible dedication and service of our colleagues in Bedfordshire and Luton. Together, they represent over 400 years of commitment to patient care, compassion, and professionalism.

“Every year we recognise the extraordinary service of so many individuals in the ambulance service, who each play a vital role in keeping our communities safe and supported. On behalf of the Trust and the NHS, I want to thank them for their outstanding contribution.”

This year is also the 20th anniversary of the formation of the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. On 1 July 2006, the region’s three ambulance services – Essex, East Anglia, and Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire – formally merged to create one ambulance service for the whole region.
