Revee Walcott-Nolan’s Commonwealth Games campaign came to an early end after the Luton middle-distance runner missed out on a place in the inaugural women’s one mile final.
The one mile featured at the Commonwealth Games for the first time, but Walcott-Nolan was unable to progress from the opening round after fading on the final lap.
Having been in contention earlier in the race, the Team England athlete slipped outside the top six over the closing stages to finish in 4:44.93, ending her hopes of reaching the final.
Walcott-Nolan admitted afterwards that she had not been at her best, having struggled with her form since the UK Championships.
She told England Athletics: “It was difficult today. Conditions were super windy and I’m not in the shape to compete at the moment at this level. It was nice though to represent England, but it’s a shame to come here and not be in my best shape.”
